Research Module: Uuurble
Summer Semester 2023
The skyline of Manhattan, the backyards of Berlin, the sea of houses in Tokyo or the alleys of Venice; the city center of Le Havre, residential areas in Bangalore, India, Las Vegas Boulevard or buildings from the 1960s in Tbilisi, Georgia - in the disciplines of architecture and urban planning or geography and landscape architecture, the examination of exemplary buildings or urban spaces is an integral part of education. However, it is not always possible to travel to these places and sufficient specialist literature is not available. That is why the Department of Urban and Spatial Development, in cooperation with the Institute for History and Theory of Architecture and the TU Braunschweig, has developed Uuurble. As Chair of Urban Design, we are pleased to offer the research field Uuurble in the coming semester and to become part of this coopertation.
Uuurble is an internet-based platform dedicated to the research and description of cities and urban neighbourhoods. It allows self-produced texts, graphics, photos and videos to be interactively linked to the imagery of the online map service provider Google Maps. In this way, interesting places around the world can be described and visited by all users of the website.
The course is aimed for students who would like to publish their own contributions on the platform. The location can be freely chosen in consultation with our department. Editing will be done in groups of 2-3 and will be brought to publication readiness with the support of our department
