Solar Urban Development – Models and Potential

Solar Urban Development

This is an interdisciplinary research project investigating the use of renewable energy, in particular concerning the conversion of existing buildings for the use of solar thermal energy in Germany. A starting point for the project was the systematic analysis and categorization of exisiting buildings, which served as a basis for the development of a concept for the conversion of certain building types.

This concept included recommendations on the integration of sustainable energy generation technologies into existing buildings, under consideration of both architectural and urban development aspects. Furthermore, a catalogue of planning culture-related measures to support this project.
