The building sector both can and must contribute to climate and resource protection through comprehensive measures, especially in new construction projects. It is necessary to already initiate these measures in the earliest planning and design phases to achieve the greatest possible impact over the entire life cycle. In Cologne-Chorweiler, the „edible village in the neighbourhood“ on a former post site is to lay the foundation for a climate- and energy-efficient neighbourhood development. As a starting point, the newly constructed building offers opportunities to contribute to the careful use of resources and to form a focal point of social life.
