2nd Prize at Competition "Built on IT"

In 2011, the competition ?Built on IT - Construction Jobs with a Future? was held by the Federal Ministry of Economics and Technology together with, amongst others, BuildIT Berlin, for the tenth time. From creative web sites, web blogs or work platforms to animations, simulations or calculation tools - anything designed creatively using the computer or new media and furthering the building industry was in demand. The range of possible topics was broad and included the entire value chain of construction.

Prize winner in the area of Architecture:

• First Prize: Urban Design Tool ? Designing in Dialogue with the Computer
  Michael Mühlhaus, Nils Seifert

• Second Prize: Design of a Lightweight System: The Forming of Folding Structures on the Basis of Main Moment Diagrams
  Björn Teutriene

• Third Prize: Product MOdel Based Information System for the Architectural Planning Process
  Dr. Roland Göttig

The award ceremony was held on January 18th 2011as part of BAU 2011 in Munich. The importance oft he competition is underlined by the participation of Jochen Homann, State Secretary at the Federal Ministry of Economics and Technology (BMWi) and Prof. Hans-Jörg Bullinger, President of the Fraunhofer-Gesellschaft.

The project was supervised at the Department of Structures and Structural Design by Univ.-Prof. Dr.-Ing. M. Trautz, Dipl.-Ing. M. Ayoubi and Dipl.-Ing. R. Herkrath.
