European Master Transforming City RegionsCopyright: Chair and Institute of Urban Design
“Transforming City Regions” (TCR) is a European Master program that integrates many disciplines in order to educate professionals being able to respond to the challenges of the evolving European territories of different scales with the respect to the environment, using the technical excellence and solution-oriented approach, understanding the economic efficiency and respecting the social needs.
The TCR program is one of the few programs designed anew at the RWTH Aachen University in order to respond to the European territorial challenges with the particular focus on project-oriented education which will equip graduates with not only recent and solid knowledge but also with the tools and methodologies that will help to face the problems of changing European cities and regions. Engineering profile of the graduates, despite clear interdisciplinary orientation, is deeply rooted in the tradition of the RWTH Aachen University and gives also a strong identity to the program.
European perspective is a distinctive profile of the TCR program. This perspective is reflected in the content of the programme, in the structure of the program, in the teaching staff engaged in the program and in the profile of the prospective students. The Faculty of Architecture would be pleased if they represent different European countries. Also methods, attitudes and values behind the content are fundamentally European. Cooperation with European universities, institutions, organisations and companies strengthens this profile. In this sense the TCR program is unique, as the Europeanisation is embedded in the entire program.
